This course is aimed at all new workers carrying out construction work, including:

• self-employed persons
• labourers
• apprentices
• trainees
• trades-persons
• supervisors and project managers

This course provides participants with:

• basic principles of health and safety in the construction industry in NSW
• information about preventing workplace injury and illness,
  
• workplace injury management and workers compensation in NSW

Nominal course duration

5 hours course materials, allow for course duration to be extended if required

• OH&S legislation in NSW
• consultation and communication in OH&S
• implementing health and safety for construction work
• workplace emergencies and first aid for construction work
• workplace injury management and workers compensation in NSW

Proof of identity requirements

To confirm identity attendees must provide from the proof of identity list below:

Full ID documents: 

• RTA issued NSW drivers licence current or expired up to 2 years
• NSW foto ID card current or expired up to 2 yeras

Primary ID documents:

• Certificate of Aboriginality
• A current photo birth card issued by the NSW registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages
• An Australian full birth certificate showing parental details
• An overseas birth certificate showing parental details, provided a passport or an official Australian travel document is also shown 
• Australian citizenship document issued by DIAC (former DIMIA)
• A current photo ID card for the NSW police force officer or Australian Defence Force 
• RTA issued photo firearms licence current or expired up to 2 years
• A document of identity issued by the Australian passport office current or expired up to 2 years 
• Australian immigration papers issued by DIAC (former DIMIA)
• Drivers licence from another Australian State or Territory current or expired up to 2 years
• A current overseas passport
• RTA issued NSW security industry licence current or expired up to 2 years

Secondary ID documents:

• Passbook account statement up to 1 year old
• Current credit/bank card
• Current Australian government entitlement card eg. Centrelink card, health concession card
• Current Australian government Medicare card 
• Electoral card or evidence of electoral enrolment up to 2 years old
• Australian defence discharge papers up to 2 years old
• Educational certificate of enrolment up to 2 years old   

Certification

Successful participants will receive a WorkCover statement of completion issued by the accredited trainer.

Training methods place an emphasis on group discussion, group exercises and the interaction of course participants.
